Albertxe23,

This response covers several postings....

Albertxe23 - I believe the BDDuke was referring to Jason's post... meaning it was tough to decipher...

Jason - Dude... by your profile you're 33 I don't care if you're a vegan, PETA member or whatever... the way that you are speaking (writing) is not always easy to follow... your sentences do not make sense...

Also on another note... I'm really an easy going guy, and it takes a LOT for me to get upset or get to the point of offending someone on purpose... you mentioned before that people get brave behind the cloak of the messageboards I can assure you that is not the case here... if we were in a bar/coffee shop having a drink and you brought up the idea of a mobile setup it would have peaked my interest BUT when you start to offer contradictions (huge size, number of people/PC's, pets, driving around like a bus, alternative fuel usage, etc.) within the same idea I can assure you without a doubt I would have been looking at you in a funny way... and then I would ask you LOTS of questions about your idea... similar to what I did before...

Now I love my animals as much as most animal lovers (I have 7 cats and 2 dogs, in our little petting zoo and my buddy has a gazelle (yes I said a gazelle) BUT I would NOT expect to take any of them no matter how much I love them to a computer shop/GC there are TOO many things that can be damaged (and FYI minors cannot be held responsible by law for the damage - parents yes kids no) such as dogs pissing on computers, chewing of cables, crap on the floor and people possibly slipping and falling, the smell of the animals, the animals that are not friendly, the pets that other people may not be comfortable around (ie. snakes, spiders, lizards, etc.) Animals that do not get along, (cats and dogs), having an animal leave your shop without the owner, or better yet the owner leaving without the pet.

Now you also said a mobile setup this is ok if you are going to park it somewhere but try playing games on your laptop while riding the bus and see how much the starts and stops and the bumps of the railroad tracks bothers you. Mobile internet yeah you can browse the net but playing games? NOT! For many of us it's tough enough with business class DSL/Cable...

BTW yes they move whole houses but when they do it's slow and usually has a police escort because of the shear size of the house (being wider than a single lane of a road, and taller than the electrical cables that hang across the roadways...

The average charge for this industry is between $5 and $6 an hour... There are a few (very few) that are above this around the $10/hr mark... I have yet to hear of one at the $15/hr mark I promise you they are not full all the time... many people fail in this busines because they fail to plan, and over spend on equipment, etc. and do not have the capital to run the business.
40 PC's that's about $60K in real money to start...

There is no free lunch you have to have money in order to get money from banks, etc.

As far as this stupid racist conversation is going you started with a shovel now I see you driving the backhoe.... drop it... it was a simple question... Actually I was curious as well but it wasn't important enough for me to ask because color really is not and should not be an issue...

When you say computer football gaming company are you talking like kids playing Madden on the Xbox, PC, what? be a little more forthcomming on this... 50 teams?? most centers can get maybe 10 - 15 for tournaments...

One last point... you said that you don't feel the need to join because of the centers in your area that will give you all their info... many of them are probably members here already, and I bet if you talked about this mobile pet-GC with any of them they may be kind enough to not do it in front of you but I bet they think you're a bit wacked... (I'm not flaming you! nor yelling, nor upset) I cannot say for sure but I bet there are several people here thinking this is a bit strange as well...

<political correctness>
Also I did not mean to offend you by saying that you were on drugs...
</political correctness>

hey

For some reason i knew this post would take a turn for the worst. Your question was answered to the best of my knowledge. Don't worry about what color game center owners are. If it's that important to you then open your own game center. Color makes no difference in this industry. Only those who follow their dreams and work hard to achieve a fun and safe game center.

sorry bout that

Any time you start by saying something like "I'm not a(n) idiot/raciast/against allowing women to vote and THEN say BUT"

you have proved your lack of worth.

Think before you type. And your Mexican comment just shows you haven't the slightest idea what I was talking about.

Al,

As you all can see questions regarding racism will always be a touchy subject. All men/women are created equal and including the words "racist" or "color" are irrelevant. I to find it difficult to describe people without adding Mexican, Black or Asian. If someone believes me to be racist for using such a description then maybe they have a chip on their shoulder.

I can tell you as a teacher you teach students responsibility and backing it up is the only way to teach it. Thus, yes you can and you work it all into the contract that the parents are held responsible. Alright now there would have to be some animals not allowed, like exotic animals. Owner clean-up would be required to happen even during a game. Only pets that are well tagged (owners' contact info.), trained, mussled (sp?) and leashed to the owner. No leaving without pet because it is attached/leashed to owner plus I would have employees to eye the situation and know how to handle it. If dog is left, no problem kept and owner contacted.

games cannot be played through The Internet. Why play through The Internet, when participants have owners (40-computers) at the location to play?

have already thought of all that, speed no problem and size would have to as wide and tall as a house. Just used it to point out that if something as big and delicate as a house than anything can be moved. I am thinking that hydrolitics (sp?) to raise parts of the multiplayer center.

Well, they are doing well enough, because they have been business for years and they did not have the deepest pockets to begin with, college students. Big article in Miami Herald. Fail for the same reason of my starting companies fail. Yeah, that was why I was originally thinking of doing the brand new multiplayer centers after I have enough money (I figure 15-years) and rent till then. However, if I can come up with the money, why not.

Who on earth plays Front Page Sports Football Pro '98? And 40 computers worth? For 12 hours a day? With no Internet? Powered by burger grease? That slowly trundles around town?

It. is. so. stupid.

I have to assume this is a big joke or prank. Honestly Gelder, you've had one too many heines.
