What is your Favorite First Person Shooter Game and Why?

My favorite Shooter Games are 007 James Bond Games, they are Very

My brother hates it when I have a Bazooka, he runs and screams like a little girl :p its SO funny. I dont live with my brother anymore, I havent for 2 years so I feel empty when I play those kind of games and thus do not play them very often. My Brother and I made it a funny game, Talking to eachother as though we were in the game itself. The game is great for beginner first shooter players. Teaching you basic Stratagy Plot and Aim. I like the game mainly because you cann't often see yourself, well as any first shooter game, its amazing.. and its really funny when there are glitches and the Comps against you are doing stupid things like running into a wall a bunch of times, after you watch them for 5 minute, pointing and laughing you shoot them in the head. "hahaha, take that moron!" Okay, now I'm getting a little TOO Excited... Moving on. My favorite level on Shooting games always gots to be the snow levels. My favorite gun is the Snipers and Bazukas.

I am torn between Battlefield ( and mods) and Joint OPs. I like the graphics and number of players in Joint OPS, but I like the feel of the maps in Battle Field.

The gamers here would vote CS. I think the only reason would be it is easy to play and get started.

    Call of Duty for Me

Call of Duty:United Offensive is by far the smoothest, strait forward, semi realistic, and funest game I have ever played. The graphics are more than attractive and run on mostley all systems which may not be up to par. The iron sights feature of the game is what really got me hooked though. This game is the Counter-Strike for me and I always find myself comparing 3d shooters to this game. At this point I wonder why people havn't started making more mods. I proudly display all Call of Duty marketing material and promote it over any other game when the chance arrises. ;)

    Call of Duty for Me

Far Cry has been THE game in my center. People love the cool modern weapons and the ability to hide in the jungle. It takes a high end system to run Far Cry which may be why most people don't play it, but it runs great on my systems. To me it feels like an updated counter strike.

If we're talking ALL TIME favorite FPS, I have to go with the original DOOM, Half-Life running a close second. This would, of course, apply mostly to the single-player aspect. Never got to play multiplayer DOOM, and multiplayer HL just wasn't as engaging as some of the other FPS I've played. DOOM set the stage for the FPS. Oh sure, Wolf 3D was the true FIRST FPS, but DOOM was much more involving. Scenario: It's 1 a.m. The lights are all out in the house. Everyones asleep. Except you. You've been playing DOOM for the past 3 or 4 hours. Your eyes are wide and your heart is in your throat. You hear the heavy breathing of... something.. around the next corner. You're out of ammo except 2 shells in your shotgun. You approach the corner, and as you round to drop the wicked beastie... BANG, BANG, BANG! "Matthew, it's 1 in the damn morning and you've got school. Turn that stupid game off!" Yes mom, you reply. You then save your game, change your shorts that you just shat and hit the hay. But you don't sleep cuz there're demons that need killin!
I know I'm not the only one with a memory such as this. DOOM is THE classic FPS.
Now, for multiplay, that's a tougher call. I didn't care for Quake 3 Arena. Too dark and gritty. Didn't have a comfortable 'feel' to it. For a long time is was Unreal Tournament all the way. In some ways I still prefer it over UT2k3 and UT2k4. Medal of Honor is a strong runner up for this category as well. I dig the MechWarrior series and Tron 2.0 was fun. I have a pretty decent system, but FarCry and Doom 3 are just too choppy for me to consider for multiplayer. RUNE was an awesome game, too, but just wasn't very popular (too bad, to.) Overall, for PCs I'm gonna have to say the Battlefield series has my vote for best multiplayer FPS. 1942 set the precident and Vietnam gave it a sharper look and ironed out some of the problems (like flying a chopper.)
If we're talking consoles... "there can be only one!" Goldeneye for the N64. All other console FPS, including the other 007 titles pale in comparison. Goldeneye is the only one that got it right. If not for that game I would say that FPS just don't belong on a console. And I know I'm gonna get a lot of boo's and hisses, but I don't like Halo or Halo 2. (cringes for the flaming he's about to receive.)

    That's my 2 cents worth.

    CS > all

What people dont understand is the fact that counter-strike has the most depth in skill then any other game. It is not popular because it is easy. It is popular because of the 5 v 5 format you play it in that requires communication and strategy more than any other first person shooter. Also with things like the CPL it is the most competetive FPS in existence. The mind is a much more important element in the game than most FPS's and being a good player requires more than running around shooting people. The future of competetive gaming is CS although source has a long way to go to match 1.6.

    Counterstrike All Platforms

I am with WALLEYE on that one. Even HALO2 did not match the gameplay in my center last month for Counterstrike on the XBOX. Although the computer version is much better, the games are short and sweet! You are rewarded not by finding a lamo super sword high in a castle, but by your skill.

This seems to even out the playing field with a simple formula, kill the enemy, get more money, buy better equipment! WOOT!

It's the most popular FPS because it IS easy. If it wasn't easy, then everyone would give up.

Why can I not get kids hooked onto Battlefield Vietnam or Desert Combat? Those games require a higher level of communication, while boasting a true team spirit. fy_pool_day is hardly a team map. neither is fy_Iceworld, or even scoutzknivez. I'm not going to argue that there may be maps that people play professionally (cpl_mill_fire), but the majority of CS players are kids that dont feel like trying a different game, because they can't use their 'l33t skillz' in an assault map in UT2004.

CS 1.6 doesnt require much of a computer to play either.
