XTREME Quest Supreme Commander Ladder Playoffs rule query

So here are the connection rules...

Failure to Connect During Playoff Qualifier and Playoffs

If we encounter 'failure to connect' issues during the Playoff Qualifier or Playoffs, we will proceed with the following solutions, in order:

#1 - The player that failed to join will try to host.

    If that fails...

#2 - An iGames representative will host the match and both players will connect. If successful, the iGames representative will remove himself/herself so as not to interfere with match play.

    If that fails...

#3 - We will look to the head-to-head match history between both players. The player with the most matches won will be the one to advance.

    If it is a tie...

#4 - We will look to see which player had the higher playoff seed and that player will be the one to advance.

    ---

Now 1,  2, and even 4 I can understand, but let's say one player (the lower seed) connects you in #2 and the other (higher seed) doesn't. Does #3 still apply at that point. I would think that the burden would be on the player that can't connect to the igames rep in the "last-ditch" solution to take the loss.

I don't think it'll be too much of a problem for us, we've only had issues playing LEI for the most part, just want a clarification before next week starts.

That is a great question. I would like to hear your suggestion.

I wonder whether it is fair for the PLAYER who cannot connect, to be disqualified because the CENTER cannot establish connection.

We will have a firm decision one way or another on Monday.

Well the only situation I see is LEI where I play. We've had zero luck getting matches going on between us. I even stuck a computer on the DMZ and still had connection issues between us. Now the only point in my scenario was the unlikely event that both try to connect to an igames rep and the higher level seed can't but the lower level can. It get's fuzzy because it's obvious the lower level seed is "ready" while the higher level is unable to play.

Fairness, yeah, this would be a crappy way to lose a match either way. Angry

    *crosses fingers*

Redhammers has played against most the cafe's thus far, and only had dual trouble with LEI. Most of the time one or the other has been able to host since the changes were made to the router.

Here's to hoping that we don't have to deal with it anyway...

Wayne, we never had trouble connecting with LEI. If I can be an intermediary (the center that hosts then removes himself) I'm willing. we can run a few tests one day next week if necessary. I can host matches and have all the centers try connecting.

When you say "remove themselves" you mean don't play, right? Actually leaving the game might cause problems.

I'll tell you what, we'll be glad for any help to avoid the situation. FYI, I'll also offer Redhammer's help in the tourney for this situation, should the need present itself. I'll also cross fingers for a problem free final Big Smile

     Good luck to everyone!

Re: XTREME Quest Supreme Commander Ladder Playoffs rule query

We had a discussion about this issue -

If both players cannot connect to the neutral host, then it will move on to the next step (head-to-head history) and then to seed.

     ---

Reggie - thank you sincerely for your offer. I may call you on Thursday night to take you up on that offer.

Redhammers - Let's please try to schedule a connection test today or Tuesday against Lantastic Extreme (LEI). It will be better to know ahead of time if we have the issue and if we can resolve it in a manner that involves the match being played. Are there any times that are particularly convenient or inconvenient for you to test?

Tuesday would be better for us (after 5:30 PM CST)

Re: XTREME Quest Supreme Commander Ladder Playoffs rule query

    Jesse,

Lantastic Extreme (LEI) says that 4 PM Central or later today (Tuesday) is good for them. Is there anyone else at Redhammers that might be able to step in?

LEI and Redhammers worked out the issue using Hamachi, so the tourney should be no problem.
